Introduction to Bingo Fun

Bingo was originally known as game of “Beano”. Earlier it was the simpler game when the dealer selects the numbers as discs from a Cigar Box and players mark the declared number and cards with beans. They yelled “beano” if they clear the cards and considered winner. The game we now call as Bingo thought to have originated in Italy and also it is thought to have its origin from the Italian Lottery, which was played every Saturday since the time it was started in 1530 and by 1770 it actually started spreading to the neighboring countries like France and caught the attention in the Elite group.

The first card, which was used to play this game consists of three horizontal rows and nine vertical columns and each column consists on 10 numbers each with first column being numbered 1 through 10, the second 11-20 and so on with the last column containing numbers from 81-90. Every row contains nine squares out of which five containing the numbers and four of them were blank and arranged in random order. To play the game wooden chips numbered 1 to 90 were placed in a bag and were taken out one at a time. Every player holds a unique card and the person who completely finishes the numbers in a horizontal row won the prize.

By 1800, the popularity of this game spreads over the whole Europe and the game gets its name as Bingo from Beano at that point of time. After that the game was introduced in US, with several modifications until it became the game we know today. Bingo continues to change and evolve and today it is played in many variations all over the world. It is also available over the internet, casinos and clubs.
